The 60-second answer
ChatGPT carries 60+ apps on the Business plan, including Slack, Google Drive, SharePoint, GitHub, and Atlassian. On the Plus plan, most operators get, the reach is narrower: Google Drive and limited access. An admin must enable each app on Business and Enterprise before anyone on the team can use it.
The apps reach the document and calendar layer of a business. Files in Drive, messages in Slack, pages in SharePoint. That layer does genuine work: summarize six months of quotes, draft a reply from a thread, pull a number out of a spreadsheet. Where it stops is the operational software that runs the actual job: the scheduling, the patient record, the matter file, the job board.

The connectors covered in this guide are the ones in the ChatGPT app, the one already open on your desk. Different product, different audience.

What it does well
Reaches into a Drive or SharePoint folder and answers a question about what is in it. Point it at a project folder holding proposals, contracts, and correspondence. Ask which client has an unsigned agreement. The answer references the file.
Pulls context from Slack into a working draft. A decision buried in a week-long thread gets turned into a summary or a follow-up email, with the source visible. The copy-paste step disappears.
Connects to QuickBooks for invoicing and payroll queries. As of July 2026, QuickBooks has a first-party ChatGPT plugin. Create, update, and send invoices; look up payroll details; check payment reminders. Square has a first-party app too, with food and beverage sellers in the US first to go live.
What it cannot reach
The 60+ apps on Business are weighted toward collaboration and development tools: Slack, GitHub, Atlassian, Notion, Asana, Linear. The operational software that runs a working business on Vancouver Island is thinly represented.

The collaboration layer is well served. The operational layer has QuickBooks and Square; the rest is absent or unverified.
Your data, and who sees it
On Business, Enterprise, and Edu plans, OpenAI does not train on your data by default. On Free through Pro tiers, data may be used for training by default, with an opt-out available in settings.
Business and Enterprise provide admin controls: bulk member management, role assignment, unified billing. The admin decides which apps are enabled and who can access them.
For a clinic, a law office, or an accounting practice, the question is not only whether the platform trains on the data, but what the data crosses into when a connector is active. The obligations sit with your profession’s regulator, and their answer governs.

The connectors are included in the subscription. On Plus, the most common plan among Island operators, the reach is Google Drive and limited access. The full 60+ apps require Business, which is priced per seat and requires a minimum of two users.

Where it stops, and what sits past it
A connector reaches the file. The system that runs the job sits outside it.
ChatGPT’s apps cover the document, calendar, and communication layer of a business. That layer is real and useful. The boundary is the operational software: the job board, the chart notes, the matter management, the scheduling system. Most of that software has no ChatGPT connector, and the few that do (QuickBooks, Square) cover only the financial slice.
Past the boundary, three routes:
- The vendor’s own AI. QuickBooks and Square both have their own AI features alongside their ChatGPT connectors. Check the vendor first.
- Export and work on the copy. Export the data, bring it into ChatGPT, and work on it there. A snapshot, not a live connection. Stale by Thursday.
- Build the connection. A purpose-built integration that connects the operational system to the AI layer. That is what workflow automation and AI development produce.
